About the Artist

Waad Elnour is a multimedia artist and designer based in Iowa City, Iowa. A 2024 graduate with a degree in Studio Arts, Waad's works centers primarily on portraiture, where she blends abstraction with realism. Sparked with a creative yearning from a young age, Waad has spent much of her childhood illustrating books and doodling on any surface at her reach. Having a particular fascination with human body and overall human experience, she spent most of her youth curating portraitures of those most beloved to her and strangers as well). It wasn't until her high school years that she developed a newfound love for the fine arts and was compelled to pursue it on a more professional level. Waad Elnour has dedicated the last several years to curating a body of work that not only captures the essence of humanity but speaks to the human experience.  ​As a first-generation Sudanese American, she wishes to expand her bodies of work to speak to the experiences regarding her cultural identity, as it has been instrumental to her development as an artist.
